Prompt 10: Pre-Simulation Consultation XF007867


First off, the fact that this story is so short with little plot and lots of space to interpret would probably make this story a short film instead of an actual movie. Nevertheless, every film production aspect would play an important role. It could be argued that with less plot length, these choices would make an even greater impact on a short film than those for a movie. 

When thinking of a simulation with no true boundaries except for employee disapproval, I considered this story to be set into the future at least a decade or two. Considering this, the music would be futuristic and probably tech-related. Likewise, the setting is somewhat futuristic. Being just dialogue, the story doesn’t discuss the setting at all. This leaves it up for reader interpretation. It could be in a regular office, or in outer space. My short film’s setting would be set in a white room. The main character would be inside the blank room, but the operator would be out of sight talking through some sort of speaker. 

There are only two characters in this short film: the customer and the operator. The operator displays levels of comedy and sarcasm, but also seems like a normal person working a normal retail job. For these reasons I’d cast Adam Sandler for the part of the operator. Not only will he bring a comedic sarcastic role into the film, but he will also bring me popularity. This being my first film as a director, Adam Sandler will attract attention and appeal to all audiences.

The second character, the protagonist, seems very argumentative. He brings a lot of serious topics into the conversation including the KKK and sexual intercourse with a minor. These topics are all brought up for the sake of proving their point. The only person I know who does this on the daily basis is Kanye West. I’d cast Kanye as the main character of this short story because I think he’d be good at portraying the character well. He also just acts as the character does every day, especially online. Kanye also loves his mom very much. He even created an entire album for her in memory of her. This is another similarity that Kanye and the main character of this story have in common. Bringing in a well known rapper would boost the popularity of this short film significantly. Combined with Adam Sandler, this short film will be great.

    I found the idea of making this short story a film really interesting. Casting Adam Sandler is a good choice. Choosing Kanye is an interesting choice and would make the film unique.

The Book Cover of Algal Bloom

  The Book Cover of Algal Bloom The story of Algal Bloom covers one particular summer of two girls when the lake near the summer home that they visit annually gets overtaken by algae. Throughout the story it’s reinforced to the girls how dangerous the algae is and how they shouldn’t go near it, but of course, by the end of the story the girls end up going swimming in the lake regardless and implicitly get sick. The story mainly focuses around this lake and the summer house for the setting and the two girls as the main characters instead of the parents or the third girl. Life of Pi's Emphasis on Origin

  Spoiler alert for the book Life of Pi    Life of Pi written by Yann Martel is a book about a man stranded at sea with a bengal tiger. The story follows Piscine Molitor Patel as he struggles to survive on the Pacific Ocean with barely any resources. The main story follows 227 days of Pi’s journey before he is eventually found on a Mexican beach. However, the book is split up into three significant parts, and the main storyline of being stranded in the ocean is just a third of the whole book. The first third consists of a buildup to the actual story: Piscine’s childhood growing up in Canada and India. Only 37 chapters into the book does Pi start his hero’s journey. Before this section, the known world is not left (although it could be argued that it is), and instead summarizes childhood anecdotes. Pi grew up in India and his father owned a zoo.
